Dance Against Drugs will also be making its New York City debut, performing HOPE at the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater on October 7th at 6: 30 pm
The program features features original choreography that blends classical Indian dance, Bharatanatyam and Odissi, with ballet, modern, and flamenco. HOPE is set to Camille Saint-Saens’s Carnival of the Animals and Danse Macabre.
In this performance, we explore the interactions between the different dance forms and demonstrate the universality of dance, and by extension, the human spirit.
HOPE also expands its horizons to include pieces that study movement outside the framework of pure dance and pieces that involve acting and even a little comedy.
The dancers are Laya Rajan, Alice Fischetti, Malinda Crump, and Erika Valero.
The performance will benefit P.S. We Care, the Yorktown schools drug prevention program, the Peekskill Library’s Youth Department, and Somethig Good In the World, an organization dedicated to improving education for children.
Individual: $20
Family of four: $40
